Colour of the month Mint Green - June 2018

The garden of love is green without limit and yields many fruits other than sorrow or joy.
— Rumi

Beautiful mint green.....fresh, light, rejuvenating and optimistic; symbolic of starting afresh.

I have always loved the colour green, and am particularly partial to its mintier tones. These cool and inviting tints somehow have a nostalgic feel, reminding us of summer days gone by.

Mint green was trending in home decor in the 1950s and also in the 1990s, which may be why I feel a connection with it. This calm colour has its place in any part of your home, especially if, like me, you are tired of the heavy use of darks which seem to have become commonplace in home decor over the past few years.

In London - where the weather is so unpredictable - who wouldn’t want to come home to the light, breezy and soothing energy of mint green?  This beautiful shade can so easily be paired with any neutral colours, and with pops or splashes of blues and pinks.

Spruce up your dining area with a vintage chandelier dripping in mint green cut glass.  Serve tea or coffee from a traditional china tea set in mint green with gold leaf florals. You can add accents of the shade throughout your home either in the form of vases, a coloured mint globe, cushion covers, bath towels or curtains.  In your sitting room you might fancy having a mint wallpaper panel, or perhaps a piece of hand-painted furniture, with mint coloured flying birds on it. Anything with foliage or birds will always create an inviting and romantic feel to any room.

Art Nouveau tiles in abstract florals can be used on the walls of your kitchen or bathroom, and if you're feeling bold, why not have a mint green painted floor, which will create impact to any room and give it a new, modern feel.

However you decide to use mint green, it will always look fresh and new.
